If fans of World of Warcraft had their eyes full with the presentation of the trailer of the ninth expansion for their favorite MMO, Dragonflightthis Tuesday April 19 in the evening reserved another surprise (which was not really one in the end): the formalization of the return of the Lich King in Classic version in the time to come, in 2022.
Wrath of the Lich King Classic, release date orphan for now
Everyone expected a “precise” release date to close the trailer, but it was finally on a simple “The Classic adventure continues in 2022” that it stopped. Disappointed? Yes, rather… But it’s only a postponement, and we should know more in the coming weeks or months. The important thing was above all to validate the fact that this mythical extension, and one of the most popular with the public, was going to make a comeback. Like its sisters, it will also be an integral part of your World of Warcraft subscription.which will then give you access to the Retail, Vanilla Classic, Burning Crusade Classic, and soon Wrath of the Lich King Classic servers.
And to be more or less complete, the developers have covered important topics:
Problems in English? No worries, we’ll explain it all to you!
The Death Knights and the Return to Northrend
If for some this will be a first trip to the frozen lands of Northrend, the oldest among us will only see it as yet another return to the frozen continent of the Lich King. The Grizzly Hills, Sholazar Basin and its enemy tribes, Ulduar and Icecrown Citadel : so many raids and regions that players loved at the time and which will be in the spotlight again in the coming months.
Of course, the new class of the time will also be in the spotlight: the first hero class to appear in World of Warcraft, the Death Knight. The lore of this class is too advanced to go over it in a simple paper like this, but what you have to remember is that this class wears Plate armor, that it knows how to tank and DPS, and that she held the top spots in raids for the entire expansion at the time. Convinced? If so, you’ll start your Death Knight in that good old Acherus Fort in the Eastern Plaguelands, level 55.. You will have to travel the expanses of Outland to perfect your leveling, and all this a few weeks before the release of the Wrath of the Lich King Classic expansion. Ion Hazzikostas insisted on this point during the presentation of the extension, arguing that the players would surely be delighted to be able to do it a little in advance.
Are you too lazy to level up with a new character on the Wrath of the Lich King Classic server? Blizzard has already planned the coup and will provide Sesames to overcome this concern of time or desire.
Wrath of the Lich King raids and dungeons: masterclass upon masterclass
If you’re lucky enough to have never set foot in Northrend before, we envy you. If the tastes and colors of snowy, lush or arid regions are entirely questionable, what is much less so is the quality of raids and dungeons offered throughout the expansion. Not everything will be available at launch if Blizzard follows the same roadmap as before, but you should have access to the “new” version of Naxxramas in the Dragonblight, with the hellish quest of the title of “the Immortal”, as well as the lair of Sartharion, which you can face with – at your choice – between 0 and 3 additional drakes. A rather epic fight at the time, and which should bring back good memories. Malygos will also be available from the start, in his Eye of Eternity. And we won’t insult you by quoting everything, but between Ulduar and its first rather crazy “hard mode” fights (Mimiron with the red button, Yogg-Saron 0 guardian…), the Citadel of the Crown of Ice with Arthas for the end of the expansion, passing through the Colosseum… There are so many exciting fights that it’s almost indecent.
As for the dungeons, those of Utgarde and the Nexus will punctuate your leveling start, and you will end up in the Rooms of Stone or Lightning to hunt Dark Iron Dwarfs. A pastime like any other, which will serve you well for at least one Ulduar boss and its assigned achievement.
You will understand, here we are rather hyped by this announcement, or at least this confirmation that Wrath of the Lich King will be released one day. Nostalgia should be there, and in the end, that’s all we ask, right?
Dragonflight, the ninth expansion for World of Warcraft, was finally announced in the early evening of Tuesday, April 19, 2022! Version 10.0 of WoW should bring a large number of promising new features for players concerning equipment, PvP or even a new class…
