With the end of the mask, lipstick sales soar
In mid-March, the wearing of compulsory masks was lifted in most public places. A boon for the make-up sector, which had suffered greatly from the arrival of this new accessory and the implementation of telecommuting. And the effect was immediate. The week the restrictions ended, lipstick sales jumped 35%, while perfumery sales rose 8%.
Not enough for the moment to completely revive the sector which, between March 2020, the outbreak of the health crisis, and the month of March 2022, had seen its sales collapse by 53.4%, according to Nielsen figures. But this upward trend should last, according to the firm NDP.
