A 42-year-old man, who had a violent grip on four women, including his wife, and 28 children in the Gers, was indicted in Agen and detained on Thursday after being arrested on Tuesday. This man of Ivorian nationality is being prosecuted for acts of rape on his wife, acts of torture and barbarity on two of his 2-year-old children, as well as acts of violence on all the children and on his three concubines.
One of his companion fled and denounced him
The facts took place in Nogaro, in the west of the department, in 2020 and 2021. “The revelations come from one of the companions who fled”, declared the vice-prosecutor of the Republic Franck Didier, describing “a strong framework of intra-family violence. The family lived “in a large building, in miserable conditions”. The man is the father of 27 of the 28 children he had with his wife and three companions, only one being from a previous union. Three are now adults. All minors were placed by social services.
Three of the women were also indicted and placed under judicial supervision for willful violence against minors and failure to report crimes.
The deputy prosecutor explained that he expected a long instruction “in view of the complexity of the facts” which justified the seizure of the criminal center of Agen. “Investigations remain to be done”, he underlined about the investigation carried out by the gendarmerie research brigade of Auch.
The mayor of the town, questioned by France Blue, explains that he noticed that something was wrong when he saw “that the whole house was tarpaulined and the windows were covered with large black veils”. “I wondered why all these people were living in the dark,” adds Christian Peyret, who says he gave the alert.
