A few decades ago, an electric vehicle rivaling a “conventional” car seemed utopian. Today, imagination becomes reality and that’s what happened when a Rivian R1T dared to take on two legendary 4x4s: the Dodge RAM TRX and the Ford F150.
Nothing like a drag race to compare the performance of three monsters: the Rivian R1T, the Dodge RAM TRX and the Ford F150 Raptor. The last two no longer hold any secrets for pick-up enthusiasts. Much more than a simple drag race, it is a fight between two types of engine: thermal and electric.
The Rivian R1T: the first electric pick-up
Unquestionably, Rivian is Tesla’s most feared competitor, but not only. Indeed, equipped with 4 electric motors, making the vehicle act like a four-wheel drive, the Rivian R1T is in the process of becoming a real reference, can outperform Dodges and Fords. With a top speed reaching 200 km/h and a recovery from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in 3.2 seconds, the Rivian R1T has just marked the history of pick-ups and electric vehicles.
The Dodge RAM TRX and the Ford F150: too overpriced?
Both vehicles are powerful, very powerful and are considered THE trucks given their performance. On one side (Dodge), a monster equipped with an engine 6.2L V8 and from another (Ford), a beast with an engine 3.5L V6 biturbo, both vehicles have proven themselves. While some thought we were reaching the climax in terms of pick-up performance, a certain Rivian R1T is hitting the market.
Who will win the race? Check it out in the video below. A pickup from the 1990s also has some surprises in store for you.
